See Cheng, Chieh Che Profiles

Mr. Cheng, Chieh Che was born in PengHu island where is located on the west of the Formosa island (Taiwan , ROC). During his childhood it was the penury age. The PengHu island is pure natural environment, deep blue ocean, pure white sand beach, and nobody islands surrounding its main island, and it is a really good place to let children full of innocence and ideal dream.

After he gradated from junior high school, he worked in food supplies manufactory. He fished for a half year and another half year staying break in touch life. Because he has experienced being a fisher man of tough life, he began to think learning other skills and finding new interests for his next stage. Then, he went away from the PengHu island to Taiwan and tried to find new opportunities from being a student and working at the same time, a sales man, creation and selling ceramics, and opening a tea store. Even though his economic situation is getting better, he still could not find his truly interests.

Occasionally, Mr. Cheng began to sculpture stone because his friend invited him to go river searching and picking stone together. At that moment, he was surprised by the stone material is full of modesty, brilliance, and shine. Then, he took part in the stone sculpture training course from the National Taiwan Craft Research Institute in NanTuo County ; meanwhile, Mr. Cheng has gained lots of knowledge and technology from Professor Xu, Ging Fu. From touching stone substance to sculpturing stone, Mr. Chen bring the modern style of sculpture into his works, and every piece of work represents abstract concept, soft lines, and unlimited shapes; moreover, he tries to combine with mixed media into his creation except single stone matter. In the creative process, he keeps extending his creative possibilities and art area, and brings new elements and composition into the works.

In the creation process of Mr. Cheng, his concept comes from his philosophy of life, and he hope the people love to appreciate his artworks. For his point of views, a nice piece of artwork which is full of the beauty of harmony and affects people feeling, thinking, spirit without space-time change and lose its creative value; such as Chinese philosophy- “Yin “and “Yang”, it looks like against each other but also tries to make the balance to each other; indeed, from the against and the balance, it is also looking for building into a unity pattern. That is a form of beauty which Mr. Chen is looking for and bringing into his creative and life intension.

Mr. Cheng hopes that not only he can devote his efforts to Taiwan sculpture field, but also can help other new age of artists to be excellence sculpture artists, and let more people enjoy stone art. Being an artist in Taiwan is very touch and lonely, and he still enjoys sharing his works to the people who admire and support his creation. This power makes his mind and intention stronger to continue the creation in the field of stone sculpture.
